Victory Prima Pils

There are lots of hops hiding under the full, frothy head of this Pils. All German malt subtleties linger beneath a long dry finish. This is one of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. (Not that one. It’s the beer guy.) Victory Brewing Company was started by 2 guys from the corporate world who decided to take their love of beer to the next level through apprenticeships at Baltimore Brewing Company and the Technical University in Munich, Germany. This beer is very highly rated by ratebeer.com and other sites.

Efes Pilsen

Efes Beer Group is based in Istanbul, Turkey and has been making beer since 1969. Their signature Pilsen is brewed with rice, which gives it a distinct flavor. It’s won several European awards and has a bit of honey, pepper and mint.

Capital Brewery Pilsner

Capital Brewery is a Midwestern company out of Middleton, Wisconsin. There’s nothing mid-way about their beers, though. They’ve been crafting some fine brews since 1986 and have won so many awards it’s almost embarrassing. They abide by the strict Reinheitsgebot guidelines, or “German Beer Purity Law”, which means they can only use water, barley, and hops in their brewing process.

As a result of this process, their Pilsner is nicely balanced “with a firm maltiness alongside hearty hop bittering and flavor notes. It’s also most recently won a Gold in the Beverage Testing Institute World Beer Championships.
